    One-Step Sparring Techniques
The following are descriptions of the first ten one-step sparring sets. They are traditionally practiced with the attacker beginning in a long stance/low block (left foot forward) position. You (the defender) typically begins in the Joon-Bi (ready) position. Giyap to indicate your readiness. The attacker then steps forward and executes a long stance/high punch with the right hand. Always Giyap when you counterattack.

For further training, practice with the attacker throwing left punches (or kicks), begin in more relaxed stances, and counterattack with more advanced techniques (in varying combinations).
    Number One
    1. When attacker punches, step with right foot into a Kibon stance while simultaneously executing an in-to-out hammer block with the left hand.
    2. Counter with a right-handed high punch, aimed between the attacker's upper lip and nose.

    Number Two
    1. When attacker punches, step with right foot into a Kibon stance while simultaneously executing an in-to-out hammer block with the left hand.
    2. Counter with a right-handed suto chop, aimed at the side of the attacker's neck.

    Number Three
    1. When attacker punches, step with right foot into a Kibon stance while simultaneously executing an in-to-out hammer block with the left hand.
    2. Counter with a right-handed palm-heel strike, aimed between the attacker's upper lip and nose or (with hand turned slightly outward) at the attacker's jaw.

    Number Four
    1. When attacker punches, step with right foot into a Kibon stance while simultaneously executing an in-to-out hammer block with the left hand.
    2. Step right foot toward the attacker while countering with a righ-armed horizontal elbow strike to the attacker's jaw.

    Number Five
    1. When attacker punches, step with right foot into a Kibon stance while simultaneously executing an in-to-out hammer block with the left hand.
    2. Counter with a right-handed spear-hand stike, aimed at the attacker's throat.

    Number Six
    1. When attacker punches, step in with right foot while simultaneously executing an out-to-in hammer block with the right hand.
    2. Using your block's momentum to chamber your attack, counter with a right-handed vertical backfist, aimed at the attacker's nose.

    Number Seven
    1. When attacker punches, step in with right foot while simultaneously executing an out-to-in hammer block with the right hand.
    2. Using your block's momentum to chamber your attack, counter with a right-handed side-chop, aimed at the side of the attacker's neck.

    Number Eight
    1. When attacker punches, step with left foot into a Kibon stance while simultaneously executing an out-to-in hammer block with the left hand.
    2. Counter with a triple-punch combination: right-to-torso, left-to-torso, right-to-face.
    3. Giyap.

    Number Nine
    1. When attacker punches, step in with right foot while simultaneously executing an out-to-in hammer block with the right hand.
    2. Counter by bringing your left foot forward to your right foot while using your body's momentum to drive your right elbow into the attacker's torso (use your left hand to grab your right fist for added strength).

    Number Ten
    1. When attacker punches, step in with right foot while simultaneously executing an out-to-in hammer block with the right hand.
    2. First counter with your right elbow as in Number Nine.
    3. Finish by spinning to your back (counter-clockwise) and then driving your left elbow into the attacker's torso in a similar manner.
    4. Reposition yourself by stepping back into a fighting stance.
